Network Engineer

Lisboa, Lisbon · Information Technology
At Axians, we value talent, not labels.
We believe in a culture of inclusion, where everyone has a place and all applications are considered based on merit, without discrimination.
This is your opportunity to join an international group with a project that needs you to help meet the challenges of digital transformation.

💻 THE ROLE
We are looking for a #TechTalent to perform duties as a Network Engineer in a large project in the telecommunications area.

🙂 WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Drive the test plan for new firmware versions and equipment (CPEs) in collaboration with the team.
  • Coordinate daily activities ensuring workload is balanced and testing timelines are met.
  • Critically analyze test results (going beyond "Pass/Fail") and ensure the team maintains high technical standards.
  • Validate acceptance criteria before commercial release, acting as a gatekeeper for quality.
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery lifecycle of CPE projects, from vendor release to commercial launch, ensuring milestones are defined and met.
  • Identify and flag risks (e.g., firmware bugs blocking launch, vendor delays) early to management, proposing mitigation plans.
  • Act as a technical escalation point for complex issues found in the lab, by pilot customers or in live network.
  • Perform in-depth root cause analysis to isolate issues (CPE hardware vs. Wi-Fi environment vs. Core Network).
  • Share knowledge and debugging techniques with the team to elevate overall technical capability.
  • Serve as the technical focal point for external vendors (e.g., Huawei, Sagemcom) and internal Vodafone teams.
  • Monitor the delivery roadmap and track timelines, ensuring the internal team is aligned with vendor delivery dates.
  • Negotiate technical priorities and bug fixes with vendors on behalf of the team.

💡 WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
  • Solid Networking Knowledge: Deep understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, PPPoE, and VoIP (SIP).
  • Wi-Fi: knowledge of IEEE 802.11 standards (ax/be - Wi-Fi 6/6E/7) and troubleshooting.
  • Packet Analysis (Wireshark): Ability to capture and interpret packet traces to identify root causes of connectivity or protocol issues.
  • Home Devices Architecture: Experience with Residential Gateways, ONTs, Wi-Fi Extenders, and management protocols (TR-069 / USP).
  • Comfort using the command line (CLI) in Linux for navigation within router operating systems (OpenWRT/RDK-B) and log analysis.
  • Ability to create scripts in Python to automate repetitive testing tasks or log parsing, helping the team become more efficient.
  • Fluency in English.
